£15K will get you a 2009 60k very reliable hybrid. Roomy, TVs for the kids, all the toys like reversing camera, power boot, heated memory seats etc. Fast 0-60 in 7.9 seconds and between 28-35mpg

Don't worry about the end of the lease, there is an industry standard 'fair wear and tear' policy which they will give you at the beginning. We have leased about a dozen cars for the business over the years and never been charged an extra penny at the end. If your wear and tear is excessive get it sorted before it goes back, SMART repairers do it cheaply.
I've had a few alloys to get refurbed but nothing else apart from a dent pulled out, cost was neither here nor there and you would have paid it for a car you owned anyway.
Save your 15 grand and just lease a new car with a manufacturers warranty that will only need servicing probably every 18 months and fuel. Lease the car for the length of the warranty and any issues are not yours plus you will get the breakdown cover through in to for the 3 years, normally for the whole of europe. Plus most leases include the road tax.
As it's on run out there are some AWESOME deals on the Jaguar XF at the moment, massive kit on an awesome driving car. Expect to pay 3 months up front and about £350 a month or so and the 2.2d (200 BHP) is fab. Fully loaded as it's on run out. If you need the extra room get the sportbrake (estate in old money!).
Grand down, 14 grand still in your account and guaranteed NO repair bills, NO breakdown cover costs and NO road tax to pay on top for 3 years. Sorted.

Get a Ford Smax. Hugely versatile and a remarkably good drive for a larger car. Good kit levels too and low service and maintenance. You could get a well specced 30k mileage 3 or 4 year old, possibly one straight out of a lease with exec spec.

Well, what i should say is not so much tiny, but definitely the low headroom in the back isn't suitable for a dog.
If you want to go down the Land Rover route the Freelander will be a better choice. The Evoque is built around it, but the extra headroom in the load area would be more useful.

Get a full protective mat and a cage if need be, spend the money protecting the boot fully, it will save you money at the end plus you can eBay it at the end of contract if it's not too ruined.
When the Touareg went back the inspector was good as gold but depends on who you get I guess.
Personally I'd do it and worry about it in 3 years time.
Looking at selling the sport soon and leasing the evoque too - the value in them only seems to be on the longer contracts, I'd prefer 24 months but 11k over 3 years isn't too bad- car is in warranty and the tax is covered.

Also Al, take a look at the owner reviews rather than the expert reviews. 4.9 out of 5 is quite high for Autotrader.
I know people get hissy about the badge but it really isn't what it used to be.
However, you may have completely different ideas. Cars are down to personal taste I know.

I used to do a lot of work for Land Rover. The Evoque boot is tiny. I wouldn't be happy putting a dog in it, its closer to a small family hatch size (golf) than an estate / 4x4.

15K you're not going to get a great car. You might get an old great car but also with all the bills that come with it.
Plus, drive one first. I hated the thought of it but I've taken to mine (not an estate). Everyone who has been in it is surprised at how good it is.

You'll get an 06/07 ish Range Rover with 80-90k on the clock.
Missus has got an sport hse - had it a year and the residuals are really good but that type of motor comes with bills, so you need to work it all out or pay a bit more for one with all the work done or with a good warranty.
I got a Vogue SE and I much prefer that to the sport but I know a lot of people prefer the sport and Vogue residuals massively fluctuate.
X5's are decent and prices will start to come down with the new model being on the road for a bit now.
I had a Touareg on a 24 month lease deal which I thought was a bargain but with the deposit it still adds up to a fortune for something you give back but it is stress free motoring.
Depends what you want really - some residual cash left over and the ag of possible repairs and selling, or pay a fee and give it back.
IMO it don't get better than a Range.
